Job Title: Head of Innovation and Product Development Reporting To: Managing Director Location: Egham Hours: Full Time Contract Type: Permeant Company Overview The Company is a market leading, fast growing, customer centric organisation which develops, manufactures and markets innovative fuel tests to detect microbiological contamination in fuels. Clients include major Airlines, large fuel distribution companies and maritime suppliers. They have ambitious plans to grow in mature sectors and penetrate new markets through customer focussed technical solutions. They are a global organisation with customers located across the globe and operations located in UK and US. They are looking for a senior, commercially minded scientist to join their Head Office in Egham to lead the product development. Overview of role The Head of Innovation and Product Development is responsible for defining and delivering against a product roadmap. The role will design and develop innovative new products and next generation versions of existing products. The role will lead a small Technical Team comprising of internal employees and University research associates. It will also include project and relationship management of local and international external partners, collaborators, consultants and Universities. The role will work collaboratively across all functions of the business to design and deliver customer centric solutions. The Head of Innovation and Product Development will be a member of the Executive Management Team, reporting to the Managing Director and will provide updates to the Shareholders and Board of Directors periodically. As such, the role will have a responsibility to their values, commitment to quality, safety and the environment. Deliverables and Responsibilities Product development roadmap Plan, manage and launch new technical products to drive market growth Management of third-party relationships Development of a high performing Technical Team Collaboratively build and influence for their strategic direction Creation and delivery of industry leading presentations and keynote speeches at external events Provide technical support for the Sales Team Provide support to Production Manager on technical and quality issues Experience Experience in Life Sciences ideally in Microbiology, Immunoassay and/or state-of-the-art Molecular Biology technologies Immunoassay knowledge and experience (e.g. ELISA, Lateral Flow Devices) Experience in fuel / petrochemical related industries desirable PhD or extensive post graduate experience in an industrial / applied microbiology related area Track record (minimum 8 years) in developing and managing commercial R&D projects Record (minimum 5 years) of team management in a commercial context and environment Behaviours Solution focused – positive, can do attitude Spirit – building a team that you want to be part of Stronger together – working cross functionally to deliver excellence Open mindedness – think, listen and re-think Integrity – operate with the highest professional standards Be the best – most efficient, best value, competitive
